So Your Pet Needs Some Dental Work!

So your pet needs some dental work!

The good news is we here at Northern Illawarra Veterinary Hospital we have the necessary equipment to ensure it is the least painful experience possible.

Whether its a simple scale and polish or something more involved like extractions we have your pet covered!

Pet dentistry like human dentistry has the potential to cause pain and discomfort, however with the help of some specialised equipment we are able to minimise such effects.

We have three pieces of equipment which are the gold standard in veterinary dentistry, the iM3 42-12 Ultrasonic Scaler, Dental X-ray unit and Vet-Tome.

iM3 42-12 Ultrasonic

Unlike other ultrasonic tooth scalers that use a “jack hammer” approach to tooth scaling, the iM3 42-12 adopts a more gentle technique with its revolutionary rotational tip movement and ultrasonic removal of the plaque and calculus. The 42-12 rapidly removes calculus deposits from all tooth surfaces.

The 42-12 achieves a highly polished finish on the tooth with less enamel damage by using an exceptionally high ultrasonic frequency.

Dental X-Ray

Dental X-ray is a very valuable tool in dental care. It removes the guess work in relation to underlying pathology and allows us to see what is really going on under the gum line.

It allows us to accurately assess the need for extractions which in turn improves patient care and outcome.

The Vet - Tome

The Vet Tome is a major advancement in atraumatic tooth extraction. It offers precise tooth extraction with minimal or no alveolar bone loss and less trauma. The Vet-Tome speeds up the procedure time with less trauma to the patient.
