Is your pet carrying a few extra COVID pounds?!

Has your pet put on a few COVID pounds during the 2020 lockdown? With owners around more and our pets mastering 'the eye of starvation', a few extra treats may have been slipped to our beloved companions! If your pet has put on a few extra pounds in 2020, or if they have always had a problem with keeping their weight down, it may be a good idea to speak to the clinic about an intervention to shift the weight.

We have recently introduced the Hill's Healthy Weight Loss Program into the clinic where we can track your pet's weight and put them onto a realistic food plan (we don't like the word diet as it's a lifestyle change not a fad!). Obesity in pets can lead to many health issues including:

  • Heart disease

  • Liver disease

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Increased risk during surgery and general anaesthesia
